A WARM WELCOME… TO AFRICA! THE AFRICAN REGIONAL CONGRESS OF PSYCHIATRY
It was always known to be the womb of the world, the continent of all wealth and all diversities. The land of the charming forests, the savannah, the Sahara and friendly people… but also the land of great opportunities, of economic and scientific rise.
Africa welcomes you this time with a different mask, that of mental health.
At the dawn of the 21st century, mental health in Africa is facing many challenges. The fight against stigma and exclusion, the promotion of human rights and the protection of vulnerable populations, children, women, the elderly, the mentally ill and minorities, are among the most important challenges of African psychiatry. Keeping up with the rapid and unbridled technological and scientific global advancement remains another ongoing goal to reach. Bringing together African psychiatrists around a project and a unified vision for mental health in Africa has been the dream of several generations.
The African Regional Congress of Psychiatry is another attempt to fulfil our dream! It will be organized by the World Psychiatric Association (WPA) in collaboration with the Tunisian Society of Psychiatry in the very beautiful Mediterranean city of Hammamet in Tunisia, on December 8th, 9th and 10th, 2022. The theme of the congress will be “African Psychiatry in the 21st Century, Achievements and Perspectives”. We will have the opportunity to share the experiences of different countries in Africa and other countries worldwide in the field of mental health promotion and to discuss ways of developing psychiatry in our respective countries and mutual collaboration in order to meet the challenges that we are encountering at the beginning of this century.
This continental-scale meeting is a valuable opportunity for participants from different regions to get to know each other, to forge links and to develop networks between the different institutions and teams in Africa.
The organizing committee of the congress invites you to make this meeting a historic moment marking the beginning of this century by the leap of cooperation, exchange and the hope of living in a better world, in which populations of different African countries can enjoy good mental health and a good quality of life.
Africa opens its arms wide for you and wishes you a warm welcome! Don’t miss the opportunity!
